Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)

A child has special educational needs if they have a learning problem or disability that make it more difficult for them to learn than most children their age.  They may have problems with schoolwork, communication or behaviour.

At Shaftesbury, we believe that all pupils have the right to a good education, to feel valued and to be supported in making the best possible progress.  To that end, we aim to identify any barriers to learning early, support pupils in their work and work with parents and other external agencies in order to support individual needs.  This increases the extent to which disabled pupils can participate in the school's curriculum.  This includes considering changes to the physical environment of the school.

The Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCo) is Mrs Vicki Sweeney.

Below you will find the SEND Policy and other helpful documents or links.  If you would like a paper copy of any of these documents, please contact the school office.
