Character Values

Character Building

Building character is an important aspect of growing up.  It can be defined as improving certain good or useful traits in a person's character, especially self-reliance, endurance and courage.

We want our children to grow into responsible adults who live according to a set of principles, who choose to do what is right, not what is easy and who have integrity in everything they do.

Character Values

To support in this development, we have worked with Route to Resilience (R2R), an accredited course to develop character values in school.

For Shaftesbury, we have chosen 30 character values that we hope will define our pupils.  These 30 values have been split into 3 categories: Respect, Enquiry & Success.  Each category starts with a focus on 'self'.
